Nature Workshop - Biedrusko

The Biedrusko Military Training Ground is located to the north of the city of Poznań. It was here that on October 18, 2023, another set of nature workshops took place as part of the LIFE project.

This area features a distinctive network of numerous ditches with periodically disappearing water, complexes of oak-hornbeam forests, and acidophilic oak forests, as well as alluvial and alder communities. The nature of the 'special areas' around Biedrusko, due to their prolonged isolation from some human activities, is unique in the region, and the richness of flora and fauna is among the greatest in the Greater Poland region. Sixteen types of natural habitats from Annex I of Council Directive 92/43/EEC and nine animal species from Annex II of this directive have been identified here. The concentration of sites for protected and endangered plants at the regional and national scales, as well as the presence of important habitats, gives this area high significance for biodiversity conservation.

Once again, we had evidence that military activities and environmental protection can go hand in hand. Many thanks to everyone for their participation.
