As part of this task, two key initiatives were carried out: nature conservation workshops and IT system training. Both elements aimed to enhance participants' competencies in nature conservation and the use of modern tools for managing data related to Natura 2000 sites located on military grounds.

Nature Conservation Workshops

A series of one-day field workshops were organized across 10 Natura 2000 areas located on military grounds throughout Poland. The workshops targeted a broad audience, including:

  • Managers of military Natura 2000 sites,
  • Military area users,
  • Representatives of local governments, non-governmental organizations, academic communities, and foresters.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Highlighting the natural values of military areas,
  • Demonstrating the role of military institutions in environmental protection,
  • Supporting cooperation between civilian and military institutions,
  • Promoting conservation activities and facilitating the exchange of experiences.

Each session included field visits, during which participants explored the characteristics of a specific Natura 2000 site and its practical conservation aspects.

Workshops Conducted:

Results:

  • A total of 500 participants trained,
  • Facilitated the exchange of experiences among participants from various institutions and sectors,
  • Disseminated project results and expanded its outreach.

IT System Training

This activity aimed to train users in operating the IT system developed under the project, as well as to prepare military personnel for managing and updating the database.

Training Scope:

  1. System users: Training covered system operation, data input, and analysis.
  2. System administrators: Training focused on editing, updating, and adding new data and attributes to the system database.

Training Organization:

  • On-site training: Conducted at the Training and Information Center of the Regional Infrastructure Directorate in Kraków (April 25–26, 2024).
    • This two-day session was designed for military area managers responsible for environmental protection.
  • Online training: Organized from October 28–31 and November 4, 2024, enabling

As part of the LIFE21-GIE-PL-INF-ARMY project, a series of training sessions and mentoring programs were conducted to enhance participants' competencies in the following areas:

  1. IT infrastructure management – including the development, configuration, and administration of the Kubernetes environment and CI/CD processes for the Life21 system.
  2. Effective project management – encompassing planning, settlement, and acquisition of funding, in accordance with modern methodologies and tools such as Archimate 3.0 and Archi.

These training initiatives supported the project's objectives by ensuring the proper functioning of the Life21 system, developing the skills of the project team, and strengthening the ability to effectively manage Natura 2000 sites located on military grounds.
