We have successfully completed the key task T.2.1, aimed at collecting and updating detailed environmental data on plant and animal species as well as natural habitats in selected Natura 2000 areas. This data will support more effective nature conservation, monitoring of changes, and planning of future protective actions.

Scope and Implementation of the Task

The activity involved comprehensive environmental monitoring and the development of documentation using GIS technology:

  • Digital maps and vector layers with descriptive attributes.
  • Photographic documentation of natural elements.
  • Analyses and evaluation of the condition of habitats and species.

The implementation was divided into 10 segments due to the vastness of the areas and their biological diversity. Tasks were contracted to specialized external firms selected through tender procedures.

Outcomes of the Work

  • Faunistic and botanical inventories: Identified protected species, assessed their condition, and identified threats.
  • Monitoring of conservation subjects: Evaluated the conservation status of habitats and species targeted for protection.
  • Development of conservation measures: Proposed specific actions to improve habitat conditions and mitigate threats.
  • Analysis of invasive species: Estimated populations of invasive species and suggested methods for their elimination.

Summary and Importance of the Activity

The collected environmental data is an invaluable resource for understanding the conservation status of Natura 2000 areas. The completion of this task has enabled:

  • The precise update of environmental information in GIS standards.
  • Better understanding of threats and the development of protective strategies.
  • Support for biodiversity conservation efforts in Poland.

The task was completed in accordance with the schedule, and its results will serve as the basis for further activities related to nature protection and management planning of Natura 2000 areas.
