Nature Workshop - Buczyny Ługowsko-Sulęcińskie

Natural Workshop No. 5 took place on September 12, 2023, in the military part of the Natura 2000 PLH080008 Buczyny Ługowsko-Sulęcińskie area. This area represents the best-preserved fragment of the glacial landscape of the Lubusz Lakeland, characterized by rich glacial topography and significant changes in elevation. The area was primarily established to preserve old, well-developed beech forests (140-150 years old) within a naturally functioning ecosystem.

During the workshop, led by a trainer from the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Gorzów Wielkopolski, we learned how to distinguish between acidic and fertile beech forests and how best to protect the stand from beavers - among many other things. We are very grateful for this knowledge.

The workshop route led around Lake Buszno, located within the Land Forces Training Center in Wędrzyn. This lake is a unique feature on a national scale, with underwater meadows of rushes plants and rare fish fauna.
